So a few years ago I was working on a film set as a hairstylist and worked with a talented young makeup artist. We worked on the same actors so our work time overlapped and our down time waiting overlapped, as it does when you work on set together.
One day as we were waiting, she asked me the most interesting question that stopped me in my tracks. I actually could not answer the question right away and then at the end of the conversation, I just looked at her and was like wow, that was interesting and made so much sense. No one had ever asked me this nor had I asked anyone this question, or thought about it straight up.
The question she asked was, "What are you a nerd about?" My first thought was I don't really think of myself as a nerd so I was stumped for a moment. I had to actually ask her what it means to be a nerd and basically,
A nerd is person who is extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about a particular subject,
especially one of specialist or niche interest.
So what are you nerdy about? Curious minds want to know!
I'm a fashion nerd.
I have always been obsessed with and worked in the fashion industry but not without blindfolds on! It is a necessity, a form of individuality, culture and art, whether if it's on the runway, in editorial, or on the street. Although the fashion industry has its flaws, as many industries do. Fashion as a whole, has many avenues and is a form of artistry.
